The story of Alevira began all the way back in the 80s...
Malik Singh Makhija, the founder of Alevira, came to the United States in the early 70s and began his lifelong romance with business and business management. But it was only in his 30s that he was introduced to the diamond industry and became a wholesale distributor.
Malik Singh Makhija founded what was then India Gems International in June 1987. What is now Alevira began as a humble one-room office in the Seybold Jewelry Building. But the business was on the edge of new, more beautiful beginnings.
In 2002, Malik Singh Makhija’s youngest daughter, Myra, began working with him, and in 2004, his eldest, Mindy, joined. The formation of this familial team gave rise to the decision to build a larger space for the business. This is exactly what came about in 2011.
Sisters Mindy and Myra studied in New York, at the GIA (Gemologist Institute of America) Laboratory, to become certified gemologists: an education that would later stand them in excellent stead in the running of the family business.
Grading, buying, and selling diamonds is the Alevira forte today. Our company was founded on trust and values, and these are exactly what it stands for now. We believe in bringing joy and excitement with our products; we strive to create warm one-to-one relationships with each of our clients to provide them the most spectacular jewelry experiences.
The company Alevira, as we know it today, started out as a new jewelry line in May of 2019. It remains our aim to extend our business ethics and values to this fresh start, and, as always, our customers remain our focal point.
